Our Roots, Our Breath, Our Heart Beat
Nature is the essence and foundation of the health of our planet, our lives and our future survival. Natural places act like cleansing organs to our planet: forests clean our air, the ocean's health keeps our weather patterns stable and wetlands clean and restore our water tables. We also must have places that are quiet and free of electronic energy to give our minds rest.
The most potent remedy to the sickening grip of mass consensus reality trance is to spend time in nature. Being in nature allows you to quiet your mind, develop gratitude, stay away from junk food and junk thinking, and to get some exercise and fresh air.
Protecting Nature
We must protect our natural places so that our children and their children will have access to the resources they need for healthy lives. Please support organizations that protect nature, such as the Nature Conservancy, World Wildlife Fund and Greenpeace. And fight urban sprawl (land trusts are a good tactic, such as through the Wildlife Land Trust) and other ways that our society is exploiting nature!
Two inexpensive things we can do are 1) to protect and plant trees, and 2) to garden organicly. Trees have a special place in my heart because they bring such healing to our world on so many levels! They clean the air, they protect the soil, they clean water and they provide homes for countless creatures. The shade that trees provide lowers temperatures both for human and natural habitats. In the weeks to come, I will post some articles and resources to honor the gifts of trees. Please give to the Arbor Day Foundation.
Organic gardening protects nature by reducing the poisons that we spread all over the earth. Millions of pounds of chemicals are used to bring us the pretty vegetables in the supermarket that are full of residues.
