Professional Profile:               

Dr. Joanie Connors is a licensed psychologist, consultant
and teacher who specializes in group and relationship
systems processes, trauma, and diversity issues. Her
experience includes 25 years of practicing psychotherapy
and 16 years of teaching university classes.

Altogether, Joanie has been working over 30 years in
psychotherapy, training, teaching, outreach and
coordination in various mental health and educational
settings. She has made dozens of speeches and
presentations throughout North America and has authored numerous articles on relationship issues, systems and other mental health topics. For the last 10 years she has been passionate about Systems Theory, which connects everything to everything and everything to nature, and makes sense of the chaos, trauma and wonder of life.

Joanie holds a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Missouri at Columbia and a Master's degree in Counseling from the University of Missouri at Kansas City. Dr. Connors is licensed as a psychologist in New Mexico and Arkansas, and holds a Certificate of Professional Qualification in Psychology provided by the Association of State and Provincial Psychology Boards.

Joanie is also a long-term volunteer for humanitarian causes such as peace, women's issues, human rights and crises intervention work. Currently, Joanie teaches graduate and undergraduate psychology courses for Western New Mexico University.

Personal Profile:

Joanie was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri in an Irish-Catholic family. Joanie lived for over 20 years in Arkansas, where she loved the Ozark hills and wilderness, and felt at home in the Ozark culture, especially its music and artistry. Now she lives in and treasures the beautiful mountains and culture of southwest New Mexico.

In addition to her career as a therapist and teacher of counseling, psychology and peace, Joanie Connors is a spiritual seeker, a lover of nature, an untamed woman, a writer and an occasional artist.
